As part of URA’s plans for Marina Bay, URA is constructing a new Bridge and Art Park at Marina Bay, which will be completed by end-2009. In future, you will be able to walk around the whole of Marina Bay, along a 3.5km loop that links up the necklace of attractions, including the Art Park, Singapore Flyer, Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, the Collyer Quay area and the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and connects to the Gardens by the Bay.

The new Bridge will comprise two components – a vehicular bridge, which is parallel to Sheares Bridge, and a pedestrian bridge, which is designed with a spiralling steel structure that resembles the double helix structure of DNA. Visitors can look forward to a unique and memorable crossing experience offering panoramic views of the city skyline. There will also be viewing “pods” which overhang the water where you can stop to rest and watch events happening within the Bay.
At the northern end of the Bridge, you can visit Singapore’s first Art Park which will feature the works of 27 youths. These were selected from 136 entries submitted for a competition in March 2006, and express ideas based on the theme ‘Aspirations for Life in Singapore’.
